Cause of Local Boy’s Death Not Determined Yet
Charles Raymond Rockey, 14, son of M. and Mrs.
Herman F. Rockey, 124 S. Cherry St., died at 4:30 a.m. today in
Children’s Hospital, Columbus. Cause of the boy’s death had not yet been
determined.
The boy was rushed to Children’s Hospital yesterday around 1 p.m. after
Fire Department emergency squadmen here treated him twice in the morning and
he was taken to Lancaster-Fairfield Hospital.
Charles was a freshman at Lancaster High School and a member of St.
Mary’s Church. He was a member of the L.H.S. Marching Band and the
Symphonic Band.
Surviving besides his parents are: one sister, Sally, of the home; two
grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. D. R. “Doc” Sowers; and three great-grandparents,
Mr. and Mrs. C. Wasch, of Barberton, O., and Mrs. Dana Sowers, of
Circleville.
Arrangements for services and burial will be announced later by the
Frank E. Smith Funeral Home.

Rites 10 A.M. Monday, At St. Mary’s
Requiem high mass for
Charles Raymond Rockey, 14, son of Mr. and Mrs. Herman F. Rockey, 124 S.
Cherry St., will be held Monday, 10 a.m., in St. Mary’s Church. Interment
is to be made in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
The rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. tomorrow at the Frank E. Smith
Funeral Home, where friends may call after 7 p.m. today.
Charles, a freshman at Lancaster High School, died at 4:30 a.m.
yesterday in Children’s Hospital. Doctors at the hospital said death was
caused by an intracranial hemorrhage.
