Roy David
Longnecker, 64, of Groveport, formerly of Lancaster, passed away suddenly
Saturday, Aug. 26, 2006, in his residence.
He was born in Lancaster on June 21, 1942, a son of
Jeannette (Roach) Longnecker and the late Roy A. Longnecker. David was a
veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, active in the Charity Newsies, a member of
the Aladdin Shrine Temple Kentucky Colonels, the American Legion Post 0144
and an auxiliary police officer with the Groveport Police Department. Dave
will be remembered as a proud dad and a kind and generous man.
He is survived by his mother; son Michael Longnecker,
who is currently serving his country with the U.S. Army in Kuwait; sisters
Jean (Ben) Schowe and Mary Carol (Richard) Sims; niece and nephews Mary and
Benjamin Schowe and Christopher Sims; Mark (Tracy) Sims; and great-niece
Maya Ellen Sims.
He was preceded in death by his father.
A Masonic Service will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday at
Halteman-Fett & Dyer Funeral Home, Lancaster. A memorial service will follow
with the Rev. Larry Brown officiating. Military honors will be provided by
the Lancaster Burial Detail. Burial will be in Green Mound Cemetery.
