David Roy Longnecker

     Roy David Longnecker, 64, of Groveport, formerly of Lancaster, passed away suddenly Saturday, Aug. 26, 2006, in his residence.
     He was born in Lancaster on June 21, 1942, a son of Jeannette (Roach) Longnecker and the late Roy A. Longnecker. David was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, active in the Charity Newsies, a member of the Aladdin Shrine Temple Kentucky Colonels, the American Legion Post 0144 and an auxiliary police officer with the Groveport Police Department. Dave will be remembered as a proud dad and a kind and generous man.
     He is survived by his mother; son Michael Longnecker, who is currently serving his country with the U.S. Army in Kuwait; sisters Jean (Ben) Schowe and Mary Carol (Richard) Sims; niece and nephews Mary and Benjamin Schowe and Christopher Sims; Mark (Tracy) Sims; and great-niece Maya Ellen Sims.

     He was preceded in death by his father.

     A Masonic Service will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Halteman-Fett & Dyer Funeral Home, Lancaster. A memorial service will follow with the Rev. Larry Brown officiating. Military honors will be provided by the Lancaster Burial Detail. Burial will be in Green Mound Cemetery.
